Exploring Printmaking

This weekend I was lucky enough to go to West Dean College for a Printmaking course with Gail Mason. It was an inspiring experience with a great teacher and lovely creative group of people to work alongside. There were lots of ‘A ha’ moments at the press and a lot of positivity.

I found working with the layers and different approaches to printmaking suddenly released ways of developing some of my sketchbook drawings and experiments. It is a satisfying and quick process. I really enjoyed the fast succession of experiments which suits my way of working.

Replicating marks in print somehow refines the mark, makes the decision seem more definite and creates depth.
